Built by physicians, for physicians
FrontRx was born in the hospital. Our founders are practicing cardiologists who experienced the documentation burden firsthand and decided to fix it with AI.
Our Mission
Physicians spend nearly half their workday on documentation instead of patient care. FrontRx uses ambient AI to listen to patient encounters and generate structured clinical notes in real time. Our goal is to give clinicians back the time that paperwork stole, so they can focus on what matters: their patients.
Our Founders
Robert Avram, MD, MSc, FRCPC
Founder & CEO
Robert is an interventional cardiologist at the Montreal Heart Institute and associate professor at the University of Montreal. He completed a 3-year post-doctoral fellowship in artificial intelligence and interventional cardiology at the University of California, San Francisco, followed by an interventional cardiology fellowship at the Ottawa Heart Institute.
He leads HeartWise.AI, a multidisciplinary research lab where nurses, engineers, bioinformatics students, and physicians combine medical imaging, signal processing, and deep learning to create practical AI solutions for cardiology. His lab has developed DeepECG.ai for ECG interpretation and CathEF for coronary angiography analysis.
Robert built FrontRx because he experienced firsthand how documentation burden pulls physicians away from patient care. He was named to the Cardiovascular Business 40 Under 40 list.
Abhinav Sharma, MD, PhD
Co-Founder & Chief Medical Advisor
Abhinav is a cardiologist and clinician-scientist in the Division of Cardiology at McGill University and the McGill University Health Centre. He earned his medical degree and completed internal medicine training at McMaster University, followed by a cardiology fellowship at the University of Alberta. He holds a PhD in epidemiology focused on the intersection of type 2 diabetes and heart failure.
His post-doctoral training includes a cardiovascular research fellowship at the Duke Clinical Research Institute and an advanced heart failure and cardiac transplantation fellowship at Stanford University. He directs the DREAM-CV lab at McGill, pioneering the use of AI to accelerate the identification of new therapies for cardiometabolic diseases.
Abhinav has authored over 140 peer-reviewed publications, serves as Director of the MDCM-PhD Program at McGill Faculty of Medicine, and is recognized as a World Heart Federation Emerging Leader and a Fonds de Recherche du Quebec chercheur-clinicien scholar.
